Originally from Seoul, South Korea, Sharon Owenby has a deep background in music and education. “I am a third generation educator, and probably just as long in that line of a musician”, she said. Sharon’s mother is an opera trained musician, her father is a preacher, and she herself is a classically trained cellist. She took her background in service, music, and education, and put them all together start Music Together of the Western Piedmont.

Music Together is a mommy-and-me music program that originated in New Jersey, and has nearly 4,000 locations worldwide. The program offers a variety of classes for children, families, and even options to bring your own instrument. “We like to inspire our families to enjoy classes together”, Sharon says. Sharon has one facility in Iredell County, located in Statesville, where she currently resides. “Statesville has really just shown to be such a gem for culture, for community, and collaboration”, she says. She also has a location in Taylorsville and hopes to someday expand to Catawba County as well.
