The WickerPickers- 50 Years of Pickin'
Live at the Iredell Arts Council Old Jail Listening Room
Description
The WickerPickers were a family band formed around 1973 in Eastern NC. The band members were parents Carl and Shirley Wicker and their 3 sons, Danny, Ronnie, and Leslie. The WickerPickers played bluegrass and folk music. They were well known and played popular events in and around Wayne County at churches, fairs, pig pickin's, chitlin struts, country clubs, and Arts Council events from 1974 - 1976. The WickerPickers have come together again 50 years later to play a show for Piedmont Folkways on 5/14/25 at the Old Jail in Statesville. They will be performing a song list from an event they played in 1975. The WickerPickers will be joined by third generation WickerPicker Sadie Wicker on banjo and vocals. This concert is a musical tribute to Mom Shirley Wicker 1938-2023.
