National Black History Month 2024

WHEREAS: National Black History Month is a time to honor and celebrate the extraordinary contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout our nation's history; and

WHEREAS: the City of Statesville is proud of its diverse and inclusive community that values the cultural heritage and accomplishments of all its residents; and

WHEREAS: the legacy of African Americans is deeply woven into the fabric of our city, with their enduring impact felt in areas such as art, music, literature, science, politics, sports, and civil rights; and

WHEREAS: National Black History Month provides an opportunity for us to educate ourselves and future generations about the struggles and triumphs of African Americans, fostering greater understanding and unity among all members of our community; and

WHEREAS: by recognizing and celebrating the achievements of African Americans, we can inspire and empower individuals to continue striving for excellence, equality, and justice for all; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Constantine H. Kutteh, Mayor of the City of Statesville, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim the month of February as National Black History Month in our city. I encourage all residents to engage in meaningful activities and events throughout the month to commemorate the vital role of African Americans in shaping our history, culture, and community.
