Unleash the Adventure: Statesville Recreation & Parks Teacher Workday Program

The Teacher Workday Program, hosted by the Statesville Recreation & Parks Department, stands out as a one-of-a-kind childcare initiative. It redefines ordinary days off for Iredell-Statesville School (ISS) students, turning them into exciting escapades where boredom is banished and creativity and learning reign supreme. This program is specifically designed to provide engaging activities and supervision for students during Teacher Work Days, ensuring that every moment is filled with adventure and opportunities for growth.

On March 5th, 2024, students embarked on an unforgettable journey to Fort Dobbs Historic Site, right here in Statesville. Guided by the knowledgeable Scott Douglas, the historic site coordinator, students were transported back in time to the era of the French and Indian War. With his engaging storytelling, Scott vividly depicted the nuances of 18th-century colonial life and the realities of wartime existence. But the highlight of the day? A firing demonstration that brought history to life!

For students participating in the Teacher Workday Program, each excursion becomes an opportunity to delve into history, culture, and the world around them. Through hands-on experiences and expert guidance, these outings not only combat boredom but also ignite a passion for learning that extends far beyond the classroom walls.
