Statesville Comic-Con Returns in 2022
If you enjoy comic books, anime, science fiction, steam punk, or pop culture, then Statesville Comic Con should be on your calendar for this weekend! Statesville’s popular comic book convention is back by popular demand and will be held at the Statesville Civic Center in Downtown Statesville on Saturday, February 12th, 2022 from 10am – 5pm.
Organized by Tim & Sherry Deel, this convention will have vendors to satisfy any niche or enthusiast that comes in the door—apparel, books, games, toys, costumes, collectibles, and so much more. The Deels organized other comic cons in Shelby and Marion, NC before expanding into Statesville.
As is customary for any comic con, cosplay is encouraged, but not required, at the Statesville Comic Con. “Cosplay” is a contraction of the two words “costume play,” and is performance art in which participants wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character from a book, movie, video game, anime, or any fictional character. Costumes will range from store bought and thrown together, to very detailed with a lot of time, money, and love invested by the cosplayer. Cosplay is one of the biggest draws to comic cons, for the young and old. There will be a Cosplay Contest with prizes in several categories.
This year’s event will have many special vendors and guests including: The cast of The Devil’s Daughter: A Harley Quinn Story, Rob Kellum aka “Papa Stro Maestro”, Matthew Atchley; actor and artist, Karen Whitfield;author of “Batdriven West”, her travels with Adam West and Burt Ward from 1978-1984, Gatsby Comics, Pokemon Brilliant Stars Pre-release Event, Nocturne Adventures Escape Games, and a Pokemon Brilliant Stars Pre-release Event, just to name a few.
The cost to attend is $5.00 for Adults, $2.00 for those 12 and under, 3 and under are free. The first 100 people thru the door will receive a swag bag (1 per family). The event will run from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Be sure not to miss the costume contest at 4pm!
