"Statesville first began competing in Minor League Baseball in 1900. After a long break, the Statesville Owls retook the field in 1939! Over the years, the minor league team played under different names with the last being the Indians in 1969. During that time, Statesville produced some great players that went on to further their baseball careers; some even made it to the majors! Today, the Owls are an independent summer collegiate team that carries on the fun for this community. During those lazy days of summer, get some peanuts and cracker jacks and head out to West Iredell High School so you can enjoy what has long been called America's favorite pastime!"
