In late 1755, construction began on Fort Dobbs in the province of North Carolina near what is now known as Statesville. This fort was used during the French and Indian War to protect the American settlers and served as a vital outpost for soldiers. You can visit Fort Dobbs for a tour to learn all about the history of this site. They also offer reenactment events where people dress up in costumes and tell the stories of what happened during that time. This is a great place to visit with your family!
